An artist for the Mythology of the Blues.

http://fhaloanmichigan.org/upload.php The artist Kreg Yingst was at Jazzfest, with his block prints generally related to Blues music.  I was very impressed at how he had extracted lines from these Bluesmen which basically indicated a thorough experience-based Christianity.  One of Reverend Robert Wilkins, with the inscription, “Well Father said, ‘See my son coming home to me.’  Father ran and fell down on his knees, sing and praise Lord have mercy.”  Blind Willie Johnson: “You know after death you have to go by yourself.  I’m not afraid of dying.  I’m a child of God.”  Mississippi Fred McDowell: “You may be high you may be low you may be rich child you may be poor but when the Lord gets ready you got to move.”  Many of his pieces were illustrations of blues stories or allusions, like B.B. King running into a burning building to save Lucille (his guitar).  And other sorts of things as well.                                             www.kregyingst.com
