Jazzfest and the Blues.

why is prednisone on back order This evening at Jazzfest, I listened to Wynton Marsalis and his band play Duke Ellington’s “New Orleans Suite.”  It was a fine moment in every way – not only a superior performance, but the piece had been commissioned for Jazzfest forty years ago, by the man who apparently got it all started, George Wein, who was in the audience.  One of Duke Ellington’s bandmembers was playing in Marsalis’ band as well.  The crowd was appreciative too and seemed to be aware of what they were seeing.  The rather straight-talking black man seated next to me said, when we discussed the seriousness of the crowd, “See that?  This is the ‘Jazz Tent.’  Not the ‘Look at Titties Tent.'”

http://midequalitygroup.co.uk/events/2025-08-27/ The “New Orleans Suite” had its moments, but it was also strange to me.  It put me in a new mental state.  I slowly felt that all the mystery and all the allure that New Orleans has, is, unfortunately, not mine.  And it was about time to get back to me.

So now it’s just a few days until I’ll be on the road and headed north.
