“Like as the hart desireth the water-flows.” The soda pop was as good as any. No comment on the pizza.

Yes, but it does straddle the Great Divide of American consumer culture: is it “soda” or “pop?”
I grew up in the Midwest where “soda” is sparkling water, “pop” is a fizzy, sweet drink. It was a shock when I moved to NYC and “soda” is any fizzy, sweet drink and “pop” is the old man who owns the deli.
