Beebalm Season.

I love these flowers.  And so do the hummingbirds, who wage a continual battle with each other to get at them.  Also known as Oswego Tea, I sure do use these leaves to make drinks.  Latin name is Monarda didyma.

I had no idea you went by the nickname “Oswego Tea”. It’s catchy.

  2. English needs a case system so we can liberate modification from the slavery of proximity.

  3. Do they need a lot of water? If you can save us some seeds that would be awesome. Love the color

  4. I have a cultivar – “Jacob Kline” – which produces very few seeds, but all you need to do is cut a patch out and transplant it and they will grow. They do, however, like water. I find they grow much better under a roofline for this reason – they like the supplemental water off the roof. But I’ll give you some and you can see how they do. They also die back soon after blooming (starting in August), in a way some people don’t like. But if you like big red flowers and hummingbirds, they can’t be beat.

  5. I’ll also note that I planted the plants in the photo last year, so they grow quickly when they’re happy.
