Scandicci Born on the Ides of October, 70 B.C. Happy 2,078th birthday, Mr. Maro. I was surprised and impressed to hear several students at Wyoming Catholic College cite the Aeneid as their favorite of all the books they had read at college. He is the poets’ poet, but this rarely happens with people who read Vergil in English. I suppose we can thank the truly excellent work of the late Mr. Fagles, upon whom be peace. He was a beautiful man, and it is nice to see his work live after him.
Vergilmas.
