The Harvest Starts.

23-Aug-11

Finally things are ripening up here.  The bulk of the harvest is a month away, but I have enough tomatoes and cucumbers to start giving away.  The standout so far have been the pink mini-beefsteaks, a 1.5 inch cherry tomato called “Ping Pong.”  Also pictured here are yellow and red cherries, Amish paste, San Marzano, and Jersey Red Roma.  The tomato plants are eight feet tall and some are nine feet in diameter, so I suspect there will be plenty of production this year.

Hope to see you soon at the MROP in Frost Valley on Saturday, September 24 and 25. Today I had felt an earthquake under my feet at the Wurtsboro Post Office. I had never been so scared in my entire life not knowing what to expect. I had never had this experience before. The ground was shaking, the walls were vibrating, and the venetian blinds inside the post office were rattling. I quickly ran outside fearing the worst. Just wanted to share that with you. Your tomatoes looked beautiful and colorful. I also wanted to tell you that my father passed away exactly a month ago from congestive heart failure, he was 89. So please keep me and my family in prayers. Your friend, Paul
